The Public Engagement Coordinator will represent and participate in activities that promote Northern Neck Electric Cooperative’s electric business and enhance its public image.  Responsible for assisting the Public Relations team on the development of traditional and new media content and materials, representing the Cooperative at public events and events for the membership, and supporting efforts to enhance a strong member, employee, and community understanding of the Cooperative’s programs, services, and public image.  Uphold a positive attitude, maintain confidentiality, and a supportive environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, the following:


  • Support the implementation of the Cooperative’s Strategic Communications Plan to enhance and maintain the Cooperative’s image and positive perception among members, employees, media, government officials, and the public
  • Assist and support the Cooperative’s spokesperson during times of crisis
  • Represent the Cooperative and consistently communicate its mission, values, goals, and role in the region
  • Support efforts to improve Member Satisfaction
  • Participate in the production of all copy, content, and graphics used by the cooperative for the advancement of its goals, the education of its members, and the promotion of its services, products, and policies, including all forms of traditional and digital media.
  • Maintain a calendar of electrical safety demonstrations, outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities representing the Cooperative
  • Support the communication efforts and logistics of the Annual Report, Annual Meeting, and all other member or public-facing events or communication campaigns of the Cooperative
  • Attend events as needed
  • Assists in the support of member services


Applicant must have related experience or degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or related field, preferred.  Video editing and photography experience are a plus.  Proficient in Adobe Apps, MS Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.  A high level of verbal and written communication skills is required.

The Engineering Assistant will provide organizational and administrative support to the Engineering department, including the VP, Engineering, Manager, Engineering Services, and other members of the Engineering Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with the tracking of all new services, upgrades, and other engineering projects in the Cooperative’s CIS system.
  • Assist with producing and recording required documentation for new services and the construction and retirement of electrical transmission and distribution facilities.
  • Interface and communicate with Cooperative members and the public regarding issues relative to the Engineering department.
  • Assist engineering personnel with appointment scheduling, meeting arrangements, and correspondence as needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy of mapping and staking data and perform input of completed staking jobs to GIS.
  • Review staking sheets and update CIS information before staking jobs released to the operations department.
  • Perform all work required in the GIS system to ensure that work order processes and the corresponding information are updated properly in the CIS and accounting systems.
  • Import and export data to and from the GIS to facilitate the sharing of information with local government, contractors, and consultants as required.
  • Update and make corrections to the GIS to reflect any changes made to the electrical system relating to new construction, line conversions, maintenance programs, switching operations, phase changes, etc., to ensure an accurate and current representation of the electrical system.
  • Update and make changes to the GIS to reflect accurate and current geographical and land base information including but not limited to roads, rivers, property lines, and subdivisions.
  • Maintain GIS to reflect all pertinent size, type, assembly, configuration, joint use, and maintenance data on electrical distribution poles, lines, and equipment and generate related reports as required.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for Engineering related processes.
  • Exercise professionalism in all written and verbal communications with Cooperative members and the public.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  An associate degree is preferred.  Must have a high degree of professionalism, communication, and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and maturity.  Must have considerable skill in effectively dealing with a variety of people under varying and sometimes difficult circumstances.  Must be able to accurately operate computers and related peripheral equipment.  Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint required.  Some knowledge of ESRI and GIS Systems is preferred.  Ability to handle a variety of diverse tasks and organize work to meet deadlines.
