Washington Youth Tour

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Washington Youth Tour is held the third week of June each summer.  NNEC will sponsor up to four students to represent the Northern Neck area on the tour.  High school, private school and home-school juniors (11th grade) whose primary residence is served by NNEC, or whose parents own a business that is served by the co-op, are eligible to compete for this trip.  NNEC joins with other cooperatives through the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives to travel together on the Youth Tour. Those selected will also join over 1,800 rural electric youths from across the nation for an unforgettable tour.  This trip is coordinated on the national level by NRECA.  The students spend one day on Capitol Hill interviewing their representatives and U.S. senators.  Participants attend committee meetings and sessions of Congress to observe and learn about our government in action.  Part of the fun is getting to know teens from all parts of the country through several social events scheduled during the week.  See the rules and apply today with the links below!
