The Weatherization Assistance Program can help make your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.  The program is funded by the US Department of Energy through grants to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development and then distributed to weatherization agencies throughout the state.

The Weatherization Assistance Program provides assistance to qualifying homeowners or renters, with the inspection and installation of energy saving measures, such as:

  • Sealing air-leaks with insulation, caulking, and weather-stripping

  • Minor roof repair

  • Repairing leaky duct systems

  • Attic and/or wall insulation

  • Inspection of heating/cooling equipment (possible replacement if warranted)

  • Installing energy efficient lighting

For a complete list of weatherization measures available, contact the agency serving your county.  Below is a list of the weatherization providers in our area, along with their contact information:

Northumberland, Lancaster, Westmoreland, King George, or Richmond Counties

If you are interested is weatherization assistance, contact your county’s agency and ask for an application to be sent to you.  If you qualify, the weatherization agency will schedule an energy audit of your home to help identify the best energy-saving measures.  Once approved, the work will be provided at no cost to you.
